WHY SINGLE LADIES PREFER MARRIED MEN

I SELDOM WONDER WHY SINGLE LADIES GO AFTER MARRIED MEN

If women’s most cliché complaint about dating men is that they resist settling down, it figures that we’d be attracted to someone who has signed up for a legally binding romance. "He has a demonstrated capacity for commitment," says Terri Orbuch, Ph.D., relationship expert and author of Finding Love Again: 6 Simple Steps to a New and Happy Relationship.
Of course, there's a big problem here: If he’s willing to cheat with you, there's no guarantee that he won't cheat on you, too.

Like everything in life, the main reason women are attracted to married can be boiled down to the simplest of human emotions; jealousy. The grass always looks greener on the other side, the food on

WHY DO MEN HIT THEIR WOMEN?

Some Men Opens Up to Why They Hit Their Women

-- Every day, three women die as result of abuse -- that's nearly 1,100 killed every year. "That number might not mean anything to you...unless the woman was your mother, your sister, your daughter," Oprah Winfrey says. Young men who admit to hitting, kicking, choking and even wanting to kill the women they claim to love are opening up to Winfrey and giving an unprecedented look inside the minds of abusers.

Sir says the first time he laid his hands on his wife, Christy, was just weeks after their wedding. He says he got jealous after a party where she was dancing with someone else.

"It set me off. I remember walking up to her and smacking her full force," Sir says. "I grabbed her by her neck, and I kind of held her against the car. Then, I walked her over to the bushes and threw her in there, and I just started choking her. It was with every bit of rage, every bit of anger I've ever had."

After the first incident of abuse, Sir says he held a gun to his head. "It was very hard for me to come to grips with the man that I was," he says. Sir promised Christy it would never happen again, and she forgave him.

WHY DO WOMEN REMAIN IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP?

Why Don’t They Just Leave?

People who have never been abused often wonder why a person wouldn’t just leave. They don’t understand that breaking up can be more complicated than it seems.
Why women stay in abusive relationships is the wrong question. The questions we should be asking are: Why do men terrorize their partners? Why does the community allow battering to continue? How can we be helpful to women in the process of leaving? A common mistake in understanding domestic violence is to scrutinize the survivor and avoid looking at the perpetrator. People believe that if battered women REALLY wanted to leave they could just get up and go. Many people overlook the environmental barriers that prevent women from leaving and too often focus on psychological "characteristics" of women instead. Although men’s violence is the crucial question, many people wonder why women stay – and advocates of battered women have made the following suggestions.

Some battered women are held prisoner in their own homes. Assailants use psychological terrorism

ONLY IN AUSTRALIA: THIS 17 THINGS WILL SHOCK YOU

PLACES TO VISIT: WHY AUSTRALIA ?

1

It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Australia is one of the craziest places on earth–but what else would you expect from a country founded by prisoners on a continent isolated from the rest of the world for some 40 million years!
2
Don’t believe us? Then check out this headline: Top End man attacked by croc, escaped by wrestling and poking it in the eyes, then drank beer as first aid. Yes, it’s real.
Still need more proof? Here are 17 pictures that prove Australia is the craziest:
Not only are crocodiles present throughout Australia, but they’re also huge. This saltwater croc caught on film is estimated to be about five and a half meters–or some 18 feet–in length. Sure… the dinosaurs went extinct, but with creatures like this still around, the question remains: who needs them? We’re not sure how you feel, but we would certainly respond “not us.”
And what’s more, Australia’s crocodiles aren’t afraid to leave their aquatic habitat. Though the water remains their primary hunting grounds, crocodiles are certainly comfortable enough on land to get out and explore, occasionally clashing with humans in the process. For example, this croc was killed in a Northern Territory town after his presence there was deemed threatening to humans. Threatening? Yeah, I’ll say…

Total enforcement of ban on street trading starts today

DON'T BE A SCAPEGOAT BE CAREFUL HOW YOU PATRONIZE STREET VENDORS

ambode

Lagos—Following the directive by Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on the enforcement of Law against  hawking in the state, most streets and highways at the weekend seemed deserted by traders for fear of being arrested.

This came as the Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences, vowed to commence  a total enforcement on street trading across the state as directed by the governor today.

Ambode at the weekend directed law enforcement agencies to commence a total enforcement against street trading and street hawkers from July 1, 2016, saying that the law banning their activities across the metropolis would take its full course. The governor, speaking at a live interview, said that the renewed enforcement is in line with Section I of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003 which restricts street trading and hawking in the metropolis.

However, observations over the weekend showed that quite a number of the traders deserted major highways, but have employed other means of hawking their wares. In Oshodi, Egbeda, Ikeja, Ikotun, Ojo, among other areas of the state, few street hawkers were seen on the road but with vigilance. It was gathered that most of the traders who were complaining bitterly against the law, accused the state government of planning to ruin their sources of living and thereby take to crime. One of the street traders, simply identified as Uche, who spoke to Vanguard at Egbeda area, said he has no other trade than selling handkerchiefs and confessionary which he had engaged in for the past six years since he finished his Ordinary National Diploma, OND, from a Polytechnic.

He explained that in order to avoid arrest, they have come up with a new trend of keeping their wares in a hidden place, while they display only a few for sale. “By this means the law enforcement agents can not easily detect or see us to arrest. More so, it will be easier for us to escape when the chips are down. Meanwhile the Public Affairs Officer of the taskforce, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, when contacted on the number of suspects arrested so far since the announcement by the governor, said, “Honestly, we are yet to make any arrest, but as from tomorrow (today), the taskforce unit, to be led by its Chairman, Superintendent of Police, Olayinka Egbeyemi, with other security outfits and men of the Kick Against Indiscipline, will launch a total enforcement across the metropolis and y one caught in the process shall be prosecuted accordingly.” Governor  Ambode, while sympathizing with the family of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck in the process of evading arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) along Maryland Bus stop last Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the death and destruction of public assets. Consequently, Ambode said the state Executive Council has resolved to enforce the Law, which according to him makes both the hawker and the buyer liable of the offence.

YOU AND YOUR BRAND: UNDERSTANDING THE MARKET

The third most important skill in business – the ability to sell to a customer

Your Brand defines you.

EXCERPT:

When I launched my first business in 1986, I didn’t really know that much about marketing. As I mentioned in my first post in this series, I first learnt to "sell" when I was only eight years old. Remember my story about selling sweets to my school friends? People bought from me because they knew me and, of course, I was selling something I knew that they wanted!

It’s possible to run a very successful business short-term, even if you don’t know anything about marketing. You can sell, sell, and sell. But if you want to run a really profitable business, you must understand the importance of marketing, which involves many steps.

Confused? It only means I have gained your attention. Now let's talk!

# Sales and marketing are not the same thing, but they go hand in hand.

# Advertising and marketing are not the same thing. Advertising is simply one of the tools we use in marketing.

# It's important to develop a brand.  In the end, the most valuable part of your business must be its brand. Branding is what I want to talk to you about today.

A brand is not just a cool logo. It’s a kind of promise, an identity, a vision, even a mission that goes beyond the product or service to be sold. Think of the message communicated by Nike’s “Just do it.” No mention of sports gear at all! What do you think they mean by “Just do it”?

The Nike “Swoosh” is one of the world’s most iconic logos. Designed in 1971, the creator was a young graphic design student in Oregon, in the USA.  An accounting teacher at her school had heard she needed some extra money for oil painting lessons, and asked her if she wanted to help design a logo “that showed movement and speed and would look good on a shoe.” He and another guy were planning to start a company. He told the her the design mustn't look too much like the main competitor’s logo, (Adidas’ stripes).

“What else you got?” was the response of Nike’s co-founder (the accounting teacher) when she presented him the Swoosh design. He was not very impressed.

So she designed a few more ideas, but he chose the initial design saying, “Well, I don't love it, but maybe it will grow on me.”  At the time, she was paid only a whopping $35 ($2/hour) for her work.

45 years later, the Swoosh is still around, nearly unchanged. The company is now worth billions, employing tens of thousands of people globally.

__But it’s not the “Swoosh” visual symbol alone that’s important! Or the Apple logo.  Branding goes beyond the graphic image.

Although admirable in simplicity, and amongst the most powerful brands on earth, if Nike or Apple made bad shoes or computers, it wouldn’t matter how memorable their logos. A brand has to do with perceived values, and building trust.

Now think about Walt Disney which for decades has produced family films. Walt Disney was a pioneer of innovation in entertainment. What Disney wanted to do was “create happiness through magical experiences.” Not “create films,” but create happiness!

Bringing a brand like Disney’s to life over the years is not easy. It means continually listening, to understand what your customers really care about.  It means consistent delivery of value and quality, true to the brand you’ve created.  It means keeping your promises as a person and a company.

How do people learn about your brand? I’ll talk more about other aspects of marketing in my next post.

To be continued. . .

REASONS WHY YOU MUST INVEST IN AFRICAN TECH STARTUPS

9 reasons to invest in African tech startups

Investments in African tech startups are on the rise, especially from overseas firms and individuals.
African tech startups received a total amount of funding in excess of US$185.7 million in 2015, according to data compiled by Disrupt Africa, and there is every reason to expect this will grow in 2016.
But why the surge in interest? Here are some reasons why African tech startup funding is on the rise, and will continue to increase.
High level of innovation
Visit the tech ecosystems of Lagos, Nairobi and Cape Town, or even further afield, and you cannot fail to see high levels of disruptive innovation. From the likes of Rwanda’s SafeMotos, which marries vehicle telematics with an on-demand motorcycle taxi platform, to South Africa’s Custos Media Technologies, which is using the blockchain to tackle digital piracy, innovation is all around. And investors like innovation.
Great social impact
Around 80 per cent of Africa’s population – approximately 330 million adults – lacks access to formal financial services. As many as 620 million people on the continent lack access to power. These two statistics alone demonstrate the potential impact technological solutions addressing these issues can have, and speak to the high level of interest from impact investors in fintech and solar startups especially.
Sizeable return opportunities
There may be a great deal of social good to be done by investing in African startups, but that does not mean funding businesses on the continent is a charitable act. If startups can find effective ways of, say, providing millions of people with access to mobile insurance products, or rolling out pay-as-you-go solar products across whole regions, serious returns on investment can be made. Which probably speaks to the continuing willingness to pump cash into the likes of Nomanini and M-KOPA Solar.
You’re in good company
We know investors are like lemmings, investors have told us so. They like to see other people taking the plunge; they like strength in numbers. And with major international VC funds like Amadeus and EchoVC, as well as high profile individuals such as Bill GatesSteve CaseTim Draper and even Mark Zuckerberg, investing in African tech startups, there is clear evidence that those that should know consider the space to be a worthwhile investment.
Skills are improving
There have been concerns in the past about the level of entrepreneurial talent in Africa, as well as the technological skills of young African developers. But this is abating as success stories continue to roll out of the continent, while the likes of Andela and codeX are making great strides in training the next generation of coders, while even Google has got in on the act. Old fears that skills levels in Africa were just not high enough are declining.
The support ecosystem is there
Africa’s tech hubs have been much discussed, and sometimes their role has been overplayed, but there is no denying that the large number and high quality of these hubs has contributed to the development of the ecosystem and assisted a great number of startups. From Zambia’s BongoHive to Cameroon’s ActivSpaces, tech hubs are ensuring African startups develop as planned and are investment-ready.
The rising middle class
Defining the exact scope of Africa’s middle class is tough, as estimates vary wildly, but it is undeniable that it is growing. And as the middle class grows, so to does spending power, and demand for services such as on-demand home cleaning services and virtual personal assistants. This process will continue, and investors would be advised to get ahead of the game.
Governments are backing it
Governments have long been accused of neglecting the growing tech startup ecosystems in Africa, but that is no longer the case. Governments as diverse in outlook as South AfricaKenyaRwanda and Madagascar are, to different extents, playing a greater part in supporting the space, with the Egyptian government even launching its own fund. This friendly environment will only attract investment.
It’s the final frontier
Whereas in the developed world, the vast majority of people have mobile phones, are online, make use of on-demand services, and consume all sorts of tech, that is not the case yet in Africa. With one billion people on the continent, and the majority of them still not connected to the internet, or banked, or even having power in their homes, Africa is a land of great opportunity for growth. Global tech giants like Microsoft and Google have realised this, and investors have too.

NIGERIA: THE STATE OF A NATION: A CHANGE THAT WAS NEVER EXPECTED

A CASE FOR CHANGE: IS THIS THE CHANGE WE VOTED FOR?

By: Thomas Chiedozie Williams

It's no longer news that things are tough in Nigeria, due to the current hike in price of goods, as a result to the increment of the fuel pump price to N145/L, not to talk of the dollar dilemma which has also affected importation.

"Rice, Yam and Groundnut oil cost so much now, mention but a few, meat plus Kerosene? You have to put it on lock-down, then again if you recall how much you bought tomatoes...ha ha ha ha...that stew must be under your watchful eyes...no story".

While people were still trying to adjust themselves to this unforeseen circumstance, after their hope for a miracle towards a better living in the name of "CHANGE" was dashed to the floor. the tomato scarcity came in with a tidal wave that swept many people off their feet and left some standing on a single toe while looking for what to use as support.

This tragic incident from the let down of the Moses whom they believe will lead them out of Egypt to the promised land where N1 = 1$, in fact even when the Moses of the bible took the children of Israel through the desert due to the rebellion of their fathers God still made provision for the journey even though it took longer than expected, But the Moses to whom was to lead the people of Nigeria, did not consider how these people will survive. this realization has made good loving, peaceful and hardworking Nigerians shrink into themselves like snails, Nigerians who use to be cheerful have become bitter, aggressive and even more desperate than ever.

Hope seems far away, even the optimist has began to waver in their view, those still clinging on to hope they have become like people who receive news of a plane crash or a shipwreck carrying a loved one who was to be home, out of shock and disbelief of the inevitable, day by day, they go to the harbor or the airport waiting for their loved one to arrive with their names written on plaques.

The picture you see tells a story itself. salaries remain the same, cost of living has increased over 200%.

Nigerians have been starved to become weak to fight for what is theirs, we have become like a commander who lost 80% of his men in an ambush right in front of him, he watched while the enemy slaughtered his men, nothing can break a good captain than watching your men loose their lives without you being able to do anything. Nigerians have been broken, beaten and tied hands behind their back, all they can do is watch and wait.

Propaganda everywhere, the "CHANGE" theory is a good one that Nigerians were ready to support, Nigerians are simple people, who only care for what they will eat, wear, how to pay their bills and live a peaceful life, there is a slogan common in Nigeria, "Nobody want to die but everybody wants to go to heaven ",  "Abeg I no want wahala o"( meaning please let me be in peace, I don't want any trouble).

The major things the good people of Nigeria are asking from their Moses are:

  • Good road Network
  • Power supply even though it's not up to 24hrs, at least 12hrs
  • An investable economy
  • Water
  • Shelter
  • Access to food( Agricultural produce, local)
  • Easy access to importation (competitive price)
  • Job Creation ( instead of building factories, industries, refineries outside the country then import same product inside, why not build the factories here?
Are these too much to ask for? I did not even add good health facilities, schools e.t.c... I believe when a man has things working for him to a certain percentage he will be healthy because his mind will be at rest.

NIGERIA NEEDS CHANGE NOT THE WORD CHANGE, AND NIGERIANS ARE READY FOR A CHANGE,

We are a democratic government, let's practice democracy, not DICTO-CRACY

NIGERIA, A GREAT NATION !!!!

NIGERIANS, A STRIVING PEACEFUL PEOPLE !!!!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA !!!

LESSONS FROM JIM CARREY: HOW I PERSIVERED

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM

"I wrote myself a cheque for $10 million for acting services rendered, gave myself five years and dated it thanksgiving 1995. I put it in my wallet and it deteriorated and deteriorated".

"Life opens up opportunities to you, and you either take them or you stay afraid of taking them".

When Jim was 12, his dad lost his job and all they had, including their house. Forcing them to live in a van for sometime. Jim and his dad had to work together as security guards to support the family. This privation continued unabated for years. Jim long had a dream of becoming a comic actor. So he moved from audition to audition without breaking even.

Then came the year 1990 and Jim Carrey 28, broke and frustrated decided to write himself a cheque. Jim, took up acting and went from year to year not seeing his dream accomplished. In 1994, he had what could be called a break into Hollywood with his role in Pet Detective and The Mask. Then just before thanksgiving 1995, Jim landed his breakthrough role in Dumb and Dumber and was paid $10 million for his role. Ever since then, Jim's subsequent movies have grossed over a billion dollars .

It is better to risk starving to death than surrender. If you give up on your dreams, what's left?

Friends, what are you committing your life to. What goal are you chasing or are you just drifting through life with no clearly defined goal. If you're to write yourself a cheque now, how much is it going to be and are you willing to pursue  your goal regardless. Are you willing to hang in there till its achieved or are you going to quit and throw in the towel. Five years from now, what will be the story of your enterprise, of your endeavor and ultimately your life.

"If you give up on your dreams, what's left". ~ Jim Carrey.
